“I think if women take the time to take care of themselves, they
can better help the others around them,” says Elizabeth Troese,
physical therapist with Good Shepherd Rehabilitation’s Women’s
Health Program. Yet Troese says too many women put their own
health care on the back burner.

That’s why it’s so important to carve out some “me” time —
whether it’s exercising, a trip to the spa or a few hours for an

appointment with your doctor.

“Most women who come in for therapy have been busy

and have neglected the problem for such a long time that

the problem has become worse,” Troese says. “A lot of

Paula Di Marco Young, of Young Medical Spa in Center Valley,

says fall is the perfect time to rejuvenate. For instance, laser hair

removal is best done when your skin is pale, not dark from the sun.

“It’s very difficult to do laser procedures on sun-tanned skins,” she

says. “The laser can’t differentiate between a pigment in your skin

and a pigment in a hair follicle, so pale skin with dark hair is best. The

laser picks up the pigment in the follicle.”

Di Marco Young says that for the same reason, fall is also the

best time to have skin treatments such as laser skin resurfacing or

chemical peels, which help to reduce wrinkles and give the skin a
