stained in a glazed light finish. Allow the drapes to puddle on
the floor, he says. When you open the windows to welcome
spring they will blow gently in the breeze.
Paint a wall. The most inexpensive way to change a room
is to paint it, says Bibi Monnahan, an interior designer/
creative consultant who lives on College Hill in Easton. You
can put new life into any room by painting an accent wall,
she says. Like Hausman, Monnahan suggests cool colors for
spring and summer. Cool colors include white, gray, blue and
green. Cool colors are trending in 2017, according to interior
design websites.
Change accent items. You can bring spring/summer colors
inside with accent pieces such as pillows, throws and
accessories. They should be cool color tones as well to “help
us through the warm days of summer while creating an
ambiance that will enhance daily living,” Hausman says. You
also can add some deep jewel tones such as deep terra cotta
or scarlet satin pillows, he says. Monnahan suggests you
change the art you display on shelves and walls to sing spring.
Declutter. One of the most common design mistakes
people make is displaying too much, Monnahan says. Good
