According to Bryan Beale, General Manager of A&A
Limousine Service, when it came to ringing in the New
Year, it used to be that people in the Lehigh Valley seeking flashy
events had to head to New York City or Philadelphia.
Not so anymore, however. Thanks to the revitalization of
downtown Allentown, the world-wide acts that Bethlehem draws,
and activities in Easton, the Lehigh Valley can now hold its own as
a New Year’s Eve destination.
Here’s our roundup of the best events to count down to 2016.
PUT ON YOUR DANCING SHOES
If it doesn’t seem like News Year’s without kicking up your
heels and heading to the dance floor, then you’re in luck. The
Vision Bar at the Sands Event Center on New Year’s Eve will
feature cocktails, a three-course dinner and dancing to DJ sets
by DJ Jerry Blavat and DJ Joel. Open bar is included and tickets
are $125 per person.
Feel like dancing but already have a dinner reservation?
Head to Molten Bar inside Sand’s Casino for free, live musical
acts starting at 5 p.m.
CATCH A SHOW
Want to ring in the New Year at a concert rather than a club?
MusikFest favorites The Red Elvises are hosting a “New Year’s
Eve Spectacular” at the SteelStacks — don’t miss this fun
concert by this party band.
If the Red Elvises’ self-proclaimed “Siberian Surf Rock”
doesn’t appeal, then head to Penn’s Peak for a folksy concert by
Get The Led Out, a Led Zeppelin cover band. General admission
includes a free beverage with the show; splurge for VIP tickets
for an open bar, pre-show party, a band Q&A session and more.
GO OUT WITH A BANG
If you like your events with a bang, you’ll want to head to
downtown Allentown this year for its celebration. In addition
to fireworks, there’ll be a “bell drop” (a nod to the Allentown
church that once housed the Liberty Bell) and live music.
Want to extend the evening? Make sure to check out the
great new restaurants in the Hamilton District of Allentown while
you’re there — many will be offering entertainment and food
specials.
HANG WITH THE KIDS
For those seeking out family friendly New Year’s Eve events,
look no further than Just Born’s Peeps Fest at SteelStacks. In
addition to a 5K during the day, there’ll also be children’s music,
magicians, clowns, and dancing until 5:30 pm. on Dec. 31,
leaving plenty of time to watch the ball drop at home or head to
other festivities.
Want to do something later at night with the family? Head
to the parks of downtown Allentown (Cedar Beach Park, Andre
Reed Park, Arts Park, Arts Walk, and Hamilton Street) to check
out the lights from “Lights on The Parkway.” While the attraction
isn’t happening this year, you can still enjoy the warm glow of
the lights on a fun New Year’s Eve stroll with the family.
