Since you’re the royalty on your wedding day,
arriving in style is a must. And there’s nothing
quite as stylish as a limousine. That said, there
are a few things to keep in mind when you’re
searching for a service.
For starters, make sure the company — and
the driver — has a proven track record. Going
with the cheapest option or not checking into
the company’s history can lead to frustration on
your big day. “Always make sure you book with
an established transportation company with
many years of experience,” says Bryan Beale,
general manager of A&A Limousine Service.
“There are a lot of ‘here today, gone tomorrow’
companies out there that operate illegally or just
go out of business overnight.”
He says one of the biggest mistakes people
make is not booking the vehicle for enough
time. “Regardless of how well you plan the
transportation part of your day, the need for
more time is a common occurrence … it's better
to book it ahead of time, so that no one feels
rushed the day of service.”
Size is another consideration. Will the entire
wedding party be joining you? If so, make
sure the limousine you pick is large enough.
“Traditionally, we found the ultra-super-stretch
limousine was the most popular wedding vehicle,”
Beale says. “On many occasions, clients would
rent multiple limos to carry the entire bridal
party. In recent years, though, more A&A clients
have been opting for the limo/party bus or coach.
This allows the entire bridal party to ride in one
vehicle together while enjoying the luxury of being
able to move around more freely and actually
stand up in the coach. "The atmosphere of a
party/limo bus is just as nice as a stretch limo,"
he says, "but the ability to have the extra room
makes for a perfect and enjoyable service.”
If you’re having a themed wedding, Beale says,
it may be possible to make your transportation
part of it — right down to a certain type of vehicle,
like an antique or classic car.
Finally, Beale says, it’s important to discuss
your expectations first and get everything in writing
so there are no surprises. “You want to make sure
you are receiving everything you expect for your
special day … and that there are no hidden costs
added on at the end.”
